Discipleship Ministries
Our Vision
Our vision at SMU Discipleship Ministries is to form compelling missional disciples of Jesus here at 51ÂÜÀò. People marked by the Holy Spirit who pursue three core things: the tangible presence of God through a culture of worship, prayer, and spiritual disciplines; counter-formation from the ways of the world into the ways of Jesus; and joining the Holy Spirit in the sacrificial mission to seek the lost and serve the needy both near and far. All for the pursuit of God’s renewing work in all things.
How It Works
Discipleship groups are the heartbeat of our ministry. Each group is led by two upperclassmen leaders and includes about 8–10 students. Groups meet weekly for an hour, creating Christ-centered communities where students can grow, flourish, and do life together.
To help guide the journey, groups walk through a shared curriculum. This year, we’re using Practicing the Way by John Mark Comer.
Last year, 8 groups met on campus—each one a place where students encountered Jesus more deeply and were formed together in His way.
